Last weekend the Valley Buffalos Sophomore boys team defeated Escalante, Parowan, and Panguitch to gain victory in the sophomore tournament held in Escalante. All the boys were able to score. The championship game was very close the whole time, with Cameron Franklin getting two clutch free throws with 7.6 seconds left to defeat Bobcats by 2. The win marked the first time in over 15 years that Valley has won the boys sophomore tournament.
Coach Jake Millard said, “The boys came into the weekend knowing the expectation was to win the tournament. They executed a near flawless game plan over the weekend, thanks in part to some of our sophomores, who became excellent leaders out on the court. Everybody’s efforts combined helped us grind out a tough, yet satisfying win against Panguitch in the championship game. We couldn’t be prouder of our team!”
Most of these same boys also won the baseball sophomore tournament on September 10, 2016.
